When Jan, the former director of thriftshop de Majum in Rotterdam decided it was time to enjoy his pension - he appointed Steffan, that had been a visitor of the shop for over 10 years, as his successor.

Now spending almost every day at the Majum, Steffan became good friends with Ank, an avid visitor of the shop. One day some old analogue camera´s came in. Steffan was intrigued and started getting daily ad-hoc lessons on photography from Ank, who has over 40 years of experience in the field. Interest grew into obsession and suddenly a big part of the shop was reserved for anything photography related.

When Mika, a photography student, joined the team the time was ripe to bring the joy of photography outside of Delfshaven.

De  Majum

De Majum was founded in 2004 by the infamous ´Papa Jan´. Jan became a sailor at the age of 13, has owned a brothel, was once a millionaire and was married four times. After a live full of adventure and the discovery that money indeed doesn´t make one happy he decided to settle down and start his child De Majum. Read more on www.demajum.com
